“Well” said Anna in a slightly relieved tone as she entered the passage, “what in the blazes is going on with that one. Wow, so much for sharing a little bit of whimsy about childhood wishes or unfulfilled ambitions and opening up a little bit on how I thought I could’ve been a pretty good Cellist.” Again three loud strums from the study and Susannah got the giggles and immediately hugged Anna and recommended she be careful what she says because the cello is listening in. To that comment, the cello gave another sound, much different to before. It was a calm sound, as though it was being played properly. Susannah gave a nod to the doorway and to the attentive cello within and then could not help but point out, “Clearly it likes me a little bit more than you. I know now and I knew then that I had no musical talent and thought it something best left to those that know what they are doing.”
The cello showed more appreciation to Susannah’s polite words and there was slight evidence that it was putting notes together to play a piece. “Oh no,” said Gabby, “I think I’m going to cry. I’m not 100% sure just yet but I think it's going to play that piece that you hear in movies where there’s reflection and mourning, it will come to me in a moment, ah yes, Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1.” “Oh please Gabby,” said Eva, “Yes that’s always been a piece that has left me teary too.”
